Janielle Scott-Braid

Director/Owner, Instructor

Janielle Scott has been the Owner and Director of Exisdance Movement Company Inc. in Lethbridge, Alberta for the past 20 years. Her performing and teaching experience is extensive. She has toured across China and parts of the United States with Visions Dance Company in B.C as well as choreographing and performing as a founding member with the 12th Avenue Dance Company in Calgary, Alberta.

Janielle received her Diploma with Distinction in Dance and Performance from Grant McEwan University in Edmonton. She also graduated as a dance major with many training scholarships from the Langley Fine Arts School in Langley B.C.

She has worked as a Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate of Teaching Diploma program and is a Certified Associate teacher of the Society of Russian Ballet. She has also trained under Brian Foley, and is a proficient teacher of the A.D.A.P.T (Associated dance arts for professional teachers) syllabus in Jazz and Tap.

Janielle has had the privilege to be selected twice to train at the world-renowned Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts and with teachers from the Alvin Ailey School, Toronto Dance Theatre, Alberta Ballet, Brian Webb Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company and the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company in Los Angeles.


An innovative choreographer, her choreography offers many styles and is thoughtful, inspirational and refreshing. It has been showcased at the United Nations womens conference in Beijing China, Disneyland, the John L. Haar Theatre in Edmonton, the B.C Festival of the Arts, the Surrey Arts Centre and at the University of Calgary.


Her love for movement has kept her busy training students in the art of dance for the past 23 years. As a teacher Janielle prides herself on teaching her students to be both technically proficient and dynamically expressive dancers. Previous to directing programs at Exisdance she had the privilege of teaching students at many esteemed studios in the Vancouver area and Calgary and also as a contracted professor at the University of Lethbridge. Janielle is known for her creativity, enthusiasm and the positive influence she makes in her students lives.
